New Medicare Agent FAQ

Time to Get Down to Business

As agents Start to Engage with us, there's a handful of questions that keep coming up.

We'll address the most common questions here, to save us some time and make the most out of our appointment.

1) What is My Compensation Like?

We are an FMO. This means that we have contract levels to bring on street level agents as well as full downlines.

Let's define street level agents real quick. To us this means for Medicare Advantage, you're getting what carriers pay street level agents. Most of our street level contracts have commissions paid directly by the carriers. We only pay on-behalf of the carrier when the carriers systems make it easier for those level to be paid out by the hierarchy. We don't like paying commissions out on behalf of carriers because that's an added expense to us since we don't take a cut of your commissions.

For Medicare Supplement and ancillary carriers we pay a competitive level based on your proof of production.

We have the ability to offer downline contracts as well. Keep in mind overrides (the commissions paid to uplines) come with expectations that you're able to train and maintain your downline. We don't recommend that path for all of our agents. Some agents do better simply producing for themselves and not worrying about running a downline. There's never an expectation that agents downline.

2) Do I Own My Book of Business?

Agents are becoming increasingly concerned about having to 'vest' their books of business or owning them period.

First off what does this mean?

Some uplines retain their downlines' books of business or require them to stay on board for a certain amount of time to own that book. Ownership of you book begs this question: "Who owns your production?"

At TopFlight you own your own book of business day one.

There's no contract length requirements either.

3) What Kind of Technology Do You Offer?

All agents get access to Sunfire and CSG as Medicare quoting software.

Our agents also get access to a proprietary CRM. This CRM is easy to navigate, is not overly complicated. It works as a true CRM meaning you don't have to memorize your client's names or save them in a different CRM to be able to navigate your book. You can export your book of business from the CRM at any time. Our CRM also automatically exports your data at a click of a button into Sunfire so you can maintain your clients, drugs, and providers in the CRM without having to re-enter them into Sunfire.

4) Do You Offer Leads?

We are not a lead vendor, but we can point you in the right direction to reputable lead vendors and give general information about how to generate your own leads.

We're known for advising our agents on how to make the most of their local markets and creating strong referral bases.

5) Does it Matter if I Work Remotely Over the Phone or In-person?

Nope. You can pick your own adventure here.

We have the experience to help you build the kind of business you want to create. We have experience in telephonic sales as well as in person sales.

We even help agents build hybrid approaches that allow them to build trust with their clients or referral partners face-to-face while working to close that business over the phone.

6) What Happens if I want to Leave?

TopFlight has an open release policy.

This means that as long as the request is made in the right timeframe (we don't release from September 1st through December 31st) and you don't have outstanding debt or obligations (it is really rare that someone would) we offer to release at any time.

We don't believe in trying to hold agents that don't want to stay with us.

7) Do You Help Pay for Marketing?

$50/ application marketing fee for Medicare Advantage business.

This is only paid out on new-to-carrier Medicare Advantage policies with most major national carriers.

This marketing fee is paid out to reimburse reasonable business expenses. Thats right, not just for lead costs.

There's no minimum production level to qualify for the marketing expense.

8) What Kind of Training is There?

We offer training around 3 main focuses of the business:

1) Technology and Systems Training

We have an automated onboarding system that includes pre-recorded training on how to use our technology. We help you with tips and tricks, and you'll get your most use out of your time with your trainer if you're implementing the pre-recorded training.

2) Group Training

Most agents don't even know what kinds of questions to ask. The best solution for this is our group training.

Every week (when practicable - we take some holidays off) on Monday morning we host a researched and planned training topic in webinar form.

On Fridays we do a more relaxed training and invite agent Q&A time.

You also get access to our past recorded group training.

3) One-On-One Advice

We have an agency Facebook messenger group for questions where experienced agents and Topflight leaders respond to questions.

Agents also get one-on-one time with their immediate upline. This time is designed to give practical advice on growing your agency where it is. We only try to work with agents/agencies that we can add value to. Time may be limited based on the work ethic and production of the agent / agency being serviced.
